So you just got engaged and you're thinking "Now what??". Planning a wedding can be stressful and confusing. And trying to find the right, trustworthy vendor can be overwhelming; How do you know who will be the right fit for you?
That's why I've put together this list to help you with finding the right wedding photographer that fits your personality, needs and desires!
1. NARROW DOWN YOUR STYLE
Do you like bright and airy photos? Or do you prefer dark and moody? What about warm and vibrant? Do you want to have candid photos or posed photos? You'll want to use this to narrow down the photographers you reach out to.

Here's an example of a candid, warm, and vibrant style, this is what my couples photos look like:

2. SCHEDULE A CALL WITH SEVERAL PHOTOGRAPHERS
Once you've found several photographers whose style matches what you like, you'll want to schedule a call or tea/coffee meet-up with them. This is a great opportunity for you to make sure that your personalities fit well with each other. You don't want to get "stuck" with someone that's very serious if you are a jokester and boisterous, and vice versa!
3. MAKE SURE THEY'RE EXCITED TO WORK WITH YOU
Use your phone call or meet up with the photographer to share more of your love story with them. How do they react? Are they excited to capture your story? How well the photographer likes you is just as important as how well you like them. It will show up in your photos if they're not excited to work with you!

4. THEY SHOULD BE SKILLED IN POSING
Whether you're linking arms with your parents and smiling for the camera or trying to get a semi-posed photo of the two of you dancing at sunset, your photographer will need to be comfortable with guiding you to the poses. It's important to hire someone that understands you may need a little guidance!
5. CONSIDER SCHEDULING AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION FIRST
An engagement session with your top choice photographer can be a great opportunity to get to know them a little better before the big day. As well as give you a chance to see how well you work together before signing on for a full day together! This also gives you the added benefit of seeing what you look like in photos with them behind the camera.
